This Edinburgh day tour combines Edinburgh’s history, some Scottish history, tasty local food, fine city views, quaint villages and Edinburgh’s port of Leith.
The day tour (around 6 – 7 hours) includes some of the best short walks in the city and some of the finest views, peaceful villages and local food stops. From our vantage points of the city we will talk about the history of Edinburgh from its very early beginnings. It’s not strenuous; a moderate to good level of fitness is all you need, we will drive between the different areas of the city. On this tour you will also get right off the beaten tourist path and visit local sights which tie in with Edinburgh’s historic past.
We will visit local neighbourhoods, climb two hills (for outstanding city views), ‘walk and talk’ by the water of Leith which cuts peacefully through the city and learn of the 2000 year long history at the village of Cramond on the River Almond, in the north of the city. We visit some of the picturesque villages which Edinburgh is known for but rarely visited by tourists. We will visit the once separate communities of Newhaven (an old fishing village) and the ancient Port of Leith.
