Day 1 – From the Lowlands through the Highlands and over the sea to Skye
We will meet you in Edinburgh / Glasgow / Inverness or any point across Scotland. We will travel to the north west highlands of Scotland through The Trossachs National Park and beautiful Glen Dochart to dramatic Glencoe where you will have time to explore some of the best viewpoints in the glen. We will travel the shores of Loch Linnhe to Fort William and on to the road to the Isles. On this stunning drive we will make our way to some of the most beautiful coastal scenery of the western highlands and board our ferry for the short sail to the Isle of Skye.

Day 2 – Landscapes and cultures of Skye Part 1
We travel around Loch Slapin with views of beautiful Bla Bheinn to the spectacular area of Elgol where you will enjoy a ‘trip of a lifetime’ sightseeing excursion with Misty Isle Boat Trips. After your 1 ½ hour excursion we will travel to western Skye and the village of Carbost for lunch and a visit to The Talisker Whisky Distillery. We will then explore the area around the Cuillin Mountains for the rest of the afternoon.

Day 3 – Landscapes and cultures of Skye Part 2
Northern Skye. We will travel through the amazing landscape of Skye to the Islands capital, Portree where you can wander the town centre and harbour. We will then journey on to the Trotternish Peninsula for amazing views of mountain and sea, the views back to the Scottish mainland are simply stunning. After a tasty local lunch, we will visit Dunvegan Castle and the remote western landscapes of Skye.

Day 4 - North Highlands on the NC500
We leave the Isle of Skye and tour on the most spectacular part of the North Coast 500 route. We will stop in the pretty village of Ullapool before continuing on to view epic mountains such as, Stac Polly, Cul Mor, Suilven and Canisp. This is a beautifully remote and striking landscape and you will have time to soak in the this unique experience. We will continue by beautiful beaches and villages to our overnight stop in the village of Bettyhill or Melvich.

Day 5 – Neolithic Orkney and Norse Culture
We will catch the morning ferry to the Orkney Isles and get straight to touring and visiting some of the most fascinating World heritage sites in Europe. Our day starts with a visit to Skara Brae – Northern Europe’s best-preserved Neolithic village. We then make the short trip to the Ring of Brodgar, a stunning Neolithic stone circle set in an expanse of wide-open space with big skies. We will also view the Stones of Stenness. We will then continue to the Island's capital, Kirkwall for lunch in a local restaurant. Our afternoon visit is out to the Churchill Barriers, The Italian Chapel and Scapa Flow. On our return to Kirkwall, your base for the next 3 nights, you can enjoy some free time to explore St Magnus Cathedral.

Day 6 – Orkney's natural beauty and history
We sail out to the the much loved Island of Hoy, the second largest island in Orkney. Hoy means 'High Island' and it is steeped in history which dates from prehistoric times, through the Viking period to the 20th Century. We will visit the beautifully situated township of Rackwick, which sits by towering cliffs and beside a fine sandy and boulder beach. Our trip includes a spectacular drive on the east of the island with amazing land and sea views. This day trip is a what travel is all about - a new experience, discovery and breath-taking open views.

Day 7 - Orkney Island Life
Our day will start with a visit to the beautifully sited Broch of Gurness, which is peacefully located by the Eynhallow Sound. You will then visit Maes Howe Chambered Cairn, perhaps the most atmospheric of Orkney’s ancient monuments. The cairn is 5000 years old. We will make an afternoon visit to Orkney's second town - Stromness. We love this little port town with it's shops, cafes and Arts Centre. Late afternoon we will arrive back in the island’s capital, Kirkwall where you can wander the quaint streets and harbour.

Day 8 – North Highlands to Inverness
Sailing back to the Scottish mainland we travel south through classic highland scenery to your departure point of Inverness, Edinburgh, or Glasgow.
